FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(April 20, 2026) — Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport (BRO) announced the return of Hertz, along with its Dollar and Thrifty brands, as on-airport rental car concessionaires, expanding transportation options and enhancing the overall passenger experience.
The partnership comes as BRO continues to see sustained growth in passenger activity, new air service, and regional demand. The addition of Hertz and its affiliated brands strengthens the airport’s ground transportation offerings, increases vehicle availability, and supports a more competitive rental car marketplace for travelers.
Beginning April 20, 2026, Hertz, Dollar, and Thrifty are operating on-site at BRO, offering a full range of rental services. Travelers can access customer service counters within the terminal and choose from a diverse fleet of vehicles designed to meet both business and leisure travel needs.
“As the airport continues to grow, it’s important that we grow the passenger experience alongside it,” said Faisal Khalifa, Interim Airport Director. “The return of Hertz expands the options available to our travelers and ensures they can choose the service that best fits their needs. This is another step in delivering a more convenient, reliable, and full-service travel experience for our community.”
The return of Hertz marks a renewed partnership with the airport, following previous operations at BRO. As travel demand has rebounded and the airport continues to evolve, BRO has prioritized strengthening its ground transportation network to better serve current and future needs.
“This has been a very intentional effort as we continue to elevate the level of service at the airport,” said Lorena Cardona, Marketing and Business Development Manager at BRO. “Bringing Hertz and its Dollar and Thrifty brands back to BRO allows us to expand vehicle availability, introduce more options across different price points, and ultimately give our passengers the flexibility to choose what works best for them. It’s about creating a seamless experience from the moment you land to the moment you reach your final destination.”
For travelers, the expanded rental car lineup means more choice and accessibility, whether visiting Brownsville or South Padre Island, traveling for business, or exploring the greater Rio Grande Valley. Travelers can reserve vehicles in advance or upon arrival by visiting the on-site rental counters or booking directly through Hertz, Dollar, or Thrifty.
