FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
JAN. 28, 2026
BROWNSVILLE, Texas (January 28, 2026) — Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport (BRO) today announced new nonstop air service to Orlando International Airport (MCO), provided by Breeze Airways. The new route marks a major milestone for the airport and the broader Rio Grande Valley, offering travelers a direct connection to one of the nation’s most dynamic destinations for both leisure and business travel.
The BRO–MCO nonstop service begins May 15, 2026, with flights operating Mondays and Fridays year-round. Orlando is strategic addition to Brownsville’s growing air service portfolio, as both a leading destination for family travel, tourism, and conventions and a hub for technology, engineering, and advanced manufacturing.
“This new nonstop service to Orlando is a significant milestone for our airport and our community,” said Faisal Khalifa, Interim Airport Director of Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport. “Connectivity is critical to economic growth and quality of life, and this route offers our passengers greater access to one of the most important travel markets in the country. Breeze Airways continues to be a strong partner in delivering convenient, reliable service that meets the needs of both business and leisure travelers.”
“Our new nonstop route to Orlando represents a major step forward for our airport and our community,” said Lorena Cardona, Marketing and Business Development Manager at Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport. “This service supports both leisure travel and the increasing demand for reliable business connectivity as Brownsville continues to grow. It reflects focused strategy, strong partnerships, and a clear understanding of how our region is evolving.”
Brownsville Commissioner At-Large “A” Tino Villarreal emphasized the broader economic and community impact of the new route.
“This service to Orlando is a big win for Brownsville,” said Villarreal. “It strengthens tourism while supporting business travel and workforce mobility. This service also reflects the dedication of our community and the strong support for flying locally, which makes air service growth like this possible.”
The new service is expected to generate economic benefits through increased visitor traffic, enhanced airport activity, and improved travel efficiency for residents and businesses. Direct access to Orlando via MCO reduces travel time and strengthens connections between the Rio Grande Valley and one of the country’s most active travel and business markets.
“This announcement reinforces Brownsville’s role as a connected, forward-looking city and supports long-term economic opportunity,” said Alan Guard, Brownsville Interim City Manager. “Expanding air service is a strategic priority, and this new connection enhances our competitiveness and keeps Brownsville accessible as our economy continues to diversify and evolve.”
“Brownsville makes for a great addition to Breeze’s network, including the currently unserved route to Orlando,” said David Neeleman, founder and CEO of Breeze Airways. “Orlando is an amazing destination for families, and we can’t wait to launch flights starting in May.”
The announcement comes as Brownsville South Padre Island International Airport continues to advance infrastructure improvements and pursue strategic air service growth to meet rising demand and support long-term regional development.
